Set up your Canon 5D on a tripod or stable surface. Attach the boom mic to a boom pole and extend it to the desired position above your subjects. Connect the boom mic to an XLR cable. It is certainly marketed by Canon as a professional camera. It is their top of the line APS-C DSLR. I suspect that a fair number of the guys in vests with big white lenses you will see dodging linemen on the sidelines of the superbowl will have a 7D on the backside of the lens.
